Tucson Dentures

Replace missing teeth and regain the smile you lost.

Are dentures right for you?

At Skyline Dental, we love making dentures. We have seen how well-made dentures can have an incredible impact on the lives of our patients. This process is both a science and an art. Proper technique and attention to detail are crucial for the best final outcome.

Depending on the patient, traditional dentures can stay in place and look natural, but additional stability will always provide a superior result. Implant-supported dentures stay securely in place, restore chewing ability similar to natural teeth, and also support your jaw health. If you are interested in this option, we are happy to discuss this process with you.

How it works: dentures at Skyline Dental

There are two roads to a new set of complete dentures: conventional and immediate. The steps in the process between the two types are different, but the end result is the same: dentures that are comfortable, improve your ability to chew/speak, and give you an aesthetically pleasing smile.

Immediate Complete Dentures

Immediate complete dentures are fabricated when there are still remaining teeth that need removal. We make these prior to tooth extraction, so you never go toothless. One or two initial visits are needed to take impressions and photos. Your dentist then digitally plans and designs the restoration utilizing photos and models. The design is then communicated with the laboratory and the denture is fabricated. On the day of tooth removal, it is placed and you leave our office with new teeth and a new smile.

Conventional Complete Dentures

Conventional complete dentures, unlike immediate ones, are made to replace an old set or when no remaining teeth are present.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to replace my dentures?

While dentures are a long-term solution, they can be replaced as needed. Dentures should be replaced when they become loose or damaged. This can happen after 5-10 years of regular use, depending on the wear and tear your dentures experience as a result of how you chew. You may also want to replace your dentures if they become uncomfortable—this could happen due to changes in jawbone and gum tissue structure, or because you’re trying new foods and flavors that require different levels of chewing power than before.

Why are my dentures loose?

Over-the-counter denture adhesive can be used to help support a loose denture, but loose dentures can be caused by a number of factors, including:

  • Your jawbone and gum tissue has changed shape and your denture no longer fits intimately
  • The teeth of your denture have worn and are no longer chewing food efficiently
  • Your denture has been damaged in some way affecting it’s fit
  • You are trying to chew new foods that may be beyond the capacity of your denture to chew

How much do dentures cost at Skyline Dental?

Conventional dentures (without implants) typically cost around $3000 per arch, so if you need both upper and lower dentures the cost would be around $6000.

Are digital dentures better than conventional dentures?

Digital dentures are somewhat limited by material options, but the technology is getting better all the time. Digital dentures are designed on a computer and either 3D printed (additive manufacturing) or milled (reductive manufacturing). 3D printed dentures are great as temporary/transitional dentures because they are cheaper to make, but the esthetics and strength of the materials are suboptimal for long-term wear. Milled dentures, on the other hand, can be quite strong and a great option for a permanent denture. Another benefit of digital dentures is we always have the design file in case you lose or damage your denture. This allows us to make a new denture without having to repeat the process of impressions and fitting the dentures, assuming your mouth hasn’t experienced too many changes.
