Read our blog post to learn about Operation Gratitude, a Halloween candy give-back campaign to honor our troops, veterans, and first responders!
Dr. James Raymond is participating in Operation Gratitude for Halloween this year. Operation Gratitude is a national program that helps individuals, organizations, and businesses donate goods to members of the military, wounded veterans, first responders, children of service members killed or missing in action, and the caregivers of veterans.
About Operation Gratitude
Candy donations from our Halloween GIVE-Back campaign will be sent to Operation Gratitude. The organization sends care packages with a handful of donated candy to troops who are currently deployed and other heroes who serve our country. According to Operation Gratitude, many donations come from dentists like Dr. Raymond who host GIVE-Back campaigns at their offices. Skyline Dental will be among many businesses gathering donations this year.
Operation Gratitude sends care packages throughout the year. In 2018, the organization sent more than 264,000 care packages. Since 2003, the same year Operation Iraqi Freedom began, Operation Gratitude has sent 2.4 million care packages across the globe!
How to Get Involved
Do you want to support our troops like Dr. Raymond? Drop off your leftover candy at our office before November 8th. You can also participate in Operation Gratitude this year by hosting your own GIVE-Back campaign. However, there are some guidelines that you must follow if you plan to host a donation drive. We encourage you to visit Operation Gratitude’s website to learn more about these guidelines.

Read our blog post to learn about how composite resin veneers and porcelain veneers compare. Contact us today to schedule a veneers consultation!
Ready to achieve your dream smile with veneers? We’re excited for you to get the beautiful teeth you’ve always wanted! But before we get to that part, you do have one more decision to make: composite resin veneers or porcelain veneers. These are two different materials we can use when creating your custom veneers, and each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Here’s a quick overview of their main differences:
Overall, getting veneers involves the same basic procedure, but there are some slight differences depending on your chosen material. Composite resin veneers can take just one appointment to complete, unlike porcelain veneers which can require multiple visits to finish. Additionally, there’s a minimal amount of tooth structure removal and often no need for numbing in the preparation stage for composite resin veneers. This conservation of tooth structure is part of the reason why composite resin veneers make for a good option for teens and young adults knowing porcelain veneers are always an option down the road.
On average, composite resin veneers last about three to 10 years. On the other hand, the length for porcelain veneers can be almost three times that amount, with their average lifespan being between 10 to 30 plus years. When it comes to how well your veneers stand up against outside forces, porcelain veneers are less likely to wear and chip. This durability also makes them less likely to need replacing in the future. On top of that, porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains so there’s less chance that you’ll have to do go in for touch-up polishing to keep them looking their best.
How long veneers last depends on your lifestyle habits and the condition of your oral health. When you come in for a consultation, we’ll be able to assess your unique risk levels and longevity expectations.
While the price of your veneers treatment depends on how extensive your work will be and how many teeth you’ll be correcting, composite resin veneers are generally more affordable than porcelain veneers.

What is the value of a confident smile?
Smiling is a universal language that helps us build relationships with those around us. Studies show smiling causes hormonal changes altering our body’s biology and chemistry. These changes then go on to impact all aspects of our health and well-being beyond the benefits of improved chewing and digestion.
Learn more about the power of smile
Making a change in the appearance of your smile is not an easy decision, but even more difficult is choosing the right dentist to guide you through the journey. Just like anything, this process starts with you. What do you want? What are your goals and desires? And like many people, your goals may be vague like, “I want my teeth to be lighter,” “I want longer teeth,” or “I want to improve my smile,” and that’s ok. The next question becomes, “How can we better define your goals and desires to create a plan?” The answer lies in digital smile design and the ability to visualize outcomes with software simulations that help refine size, shape, and color desires.
Test-driving your new smile
It’s common practice to test drive a car before buying it, so why isn’t this common practice in dentistry? The basic answer is cost and feasibility. With digital smile design, you can preview your new smile in minutes with a 2D rendering.
When possible, patients can take it to the next level and physically wear their new teeth for several days to several months. 3D designing your new smile can be quickly achieved using computer software to design and 3D print new teeth that snap-in over your existing teeth.

In short, digital smile design ensures you’re getting the smile you want and love before committing yourself to dental treatment.

Relaxing Sedation Dentistry
Nervous about visiting the dentist? We understand. Many patients struggle with various levels of dental fear and anxiety. In addition to our warm, inviting atmosphere, we also offer sedation dentistry to help you feel relaxed and comfortable throughout your treatment:
- Nitrous oxide is a sweet-smelling gas administered through a soft mask that goes over the nose. It puts patients in a euphoric, happy state-of-being. Because its effects wear off quickly, nitrous oxide is safe for kids and adults can drive themselves home after their appointment.
- Oral conscious sedation is a prescribed pill that patients take before their appointment. It is for more severe cases of anxiety and for patients receiving complex dental treatments. Its effects last longer, so someone will be needed to drive you home after your appointment.

Our goal is to help lower the financial barriers to dentistry as much as possible.
